Next Uprising has made it my (one man operation) goal to do a Skype interview with someone from Whole Washington a day this week. Why? Because this is a cause I am wholeheartedly behind. Our current system is NOT WORKING! I myself am a member of Teamsters Local 252, work a fulltime job, and supposedly have full medical coverage. I pay for medical insurance as does my employer. Yet, I have several medical conditions that my medical insurance fight with me every step of the way.
As the band Nevermore once said "The systems failing."
Forget about being some bleeding heart (which I proudly am). Let's do this for completely selfish reasons. When I go to eat somewhere, I don't want some sick person breathing, coughing, and handling my food with snot covered gloves. There is a pizza place that many call "Snot Pizza." The owner, founder, and namesake once complained (like the precious snowflake he is) that he would have to raise the price of his pie an entire dime! I call that the "No phlegm charge."
Seriously!? All I have to pay is a single dime to have healthy people prepare my food? That sounds like an amazing deal! Count me in!
Of course the response from people in serious denial is "But there is a rule that employees are not allowed to come to work sick." Right. If you think that's followed at all by people who can barely pay rent as it is, you are a total moron. You also claim that we shouldn't have gun laws because criminals don't follow laws, right? Yet you think a single mother on an extremely thin budget can afford to miss a day of work unpaid? Maybe even fired because of that? Really?
So I want those people to have sick leave, full medical coverage, and zero repercussions for using those resources.
How about we talk about those "homeless bums" (I was once homeless. I speak this way here only to make a point) sleeping on the street. I want them to be healthy enough to work. I want to reduce their excuses. Let's do that by making sure they have dependable, complete, and easy to access medical care.
Now of course the majority of the homeless are our brave veterans. We are told that they have medical coverage, yet so many are dying on the streets. Let me be very blunt for a second. If you don't understand why we need to do better for our veterans, you are a worthless cunt. You are below sewage scum to me. They risked the ultimate sacrifice and they are dying on our streets. We need better care and we need to make it more accessible to them. If you disagree, go kill yourself. Seriously. Sorry to be so brutal. I promise to use better language most of the time, but this is where I draw the line. It's completely inexcusable how we treat the most honorable among us.
I could go on and on listing perfectly selfish reasons why you should support Whole Washington, but let's not ignore the proverbial elephant in the room. You could also do it because you don't want to be a arrogant jerk with no compassion. You could just do it because you are sick of this country being behind other first world nations when it comes to medical care.
So it is because of this that we will start posting interviews with people from Whole Washington, medical staff that support Whole Washington, and friends of Whole Washington.
The MyPillow company has come out in full force to support Trump, Fox News, and all that they stand for. Who has to "spin" when direct quotes say all that needs to be said? The following is a screenshot taken directly from the MyPillow Facebook page. I say we vote with our hard earned cash! From here on out buy any pillow other than one from this wretched company.
The MyPillow founder Mike Lindell is also rumored to be getting ready to launch a campaign for Governor of Minnesota. His support of Donald Trump goes back to August 2016 when Trump was just a candidate. So hints that he wants to be the Trump of Minnesota do seem believable.
Please comment below if you know of any great progressive pillow companies.
Chris Reed has been a working actor for over an entire decade, but most know him as Filthy Phil from the show Sons Of Anarchy. Other things you might have seen him in are Big Bang Theory, Justified, Wizards Of Waverly Place, Bones, and Eastbound And Down. The following is reposted (by permission) from his personal Facebook page. His public pages are linked below. Was he being sarcastic? Hyperbolic? Read the post and decide for yourself. HELL YES LET’S KILL DRUG DEALERS.
We execute murderers for killing one person while we let the guy who kills 5000 with his smuggled drugs go off to the plush confines of maximum security prison! That’s bullshit. Let’s kill em. And not with painless chemicals either rather FIRING SQUAD. Pill salesman, doctors and nurses too! I mean, we have a heroin problem in the US largely due to the abuses of Pharmaceutical companies and their clients, so why exempt them?
If we’re smart, we won’t stop there! We’ll have to pass some new laws for sure but we should take a close look at it. See next, we’ll throw all the brewers and distillers against the wall. Alcohol kills literally HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people every year, directly or indirectly. Should the scumbugs who enable such behavior walk free?
I say NEIN!
Once we’re all safe from those evil doers, we’ll move onto the other bastards killing our families. Burger flippers, donut fryers, BARISTAS! They kill MILLIONS. WIPE THAT FILTH OFF OF OUR NATION’S FACE.
Cuz we’re about Lady Justice and her sword here in Trump’s ‘Murica.
Lady Liberty was just a fucking slut with a torch who had whatever happened to her coming.

So I just watched Gangs Of New York for the uptenth time. You ever see the ending of that movie? Nick Hanauer once said "The pitchforks are coming." When I saw him say those words on his Ted Talk, I remembered that ending of Gangs Of New York.
When the pitchforks do come, it's not going to be pretty. It will not be rational. It will not be fair. It will be ruthless, it will be ugly, and it will be as unfair as it gets. Women? Children? It won't matter. If you are the enemy, your throat will be slit. No one will be able to save you. For this to happen, people will have to snap. They will be brought to the point were their minds will not be in a good place. The people will have been driven to insanity.
Please don't take this as a threat. It's meant as a friendly warning, because I am a liberal that thinks you do have a right to own a gun. I don't want all guns taken away. I'm an American who puts a very high value on the rights of fellow Americans. This article is about avoiding that extremely dark situation. No good can come of it. The victors will be filled with regret for crimes they never thought they were capable of. You ever hear the saying "Brink of insanity?" That's where we are at now. But we can avoid it.
Remember when you could smoke a cigarette in a bar? Remember when you could smoke a cigarette in a restaurant? There was a smoking section just for people who smoke. Small problem though. Smokers ticked enough people off that they lost it all. If they would have been more polite about it, maybe they could still have a smoke after a meal without standing in the rain.
Gun nuts are about to have done to them, what the smokers had done. The problem is that they're so damn paranoid that they can't see what level of deception they've bought into. They were told for almost a decade that Obama was coming to take all their guns. Then look what happened? More guns were sold during the Obama administration than ever in history. There was not a single move to take anyone's guns. Yet they still think us liberals are trying to take all their guns. Some of my best memories are of going out shooting with my father. I know many fellow liberals that own guns, hunt, and are even collectors. We're not coming for your guns. Many of us have our own.
But things are getting irrational. Before things get irrational, you gun nuts might want to think about the word placate. It's kind of a negotiation without having to sit at a table. It's looking at a situation and knowing that you need to make a sacrifice before you lose it all. In a recent poll 66% said that they wanted stricter gun regulations. Sure we can debate if those stricter regulations will make the difference us silly liberals think they will, but I have a different point to make here.
The tides are turning. Each time people get pissed enough to speak out about gun control, they get a little more irrational. Each time a school gets shot up, they demand something is done. It's time to think about the word placate. Start supporting common sense gun control or there might be a time where they do come for all your guns. Give a little, before you have to give it all.
Right now we want the CDC to be able to get funding to research statistics, be allowed to do their research, and let that information be as available as any pundit on cable news. We want it to be against the law for minors, criminals, and the mentally unstable to possess guns. We want it so that the more efficient a weapon is for killing, the harder it is to legally obtain (or possess). We want gun ownership to come with a paper trail so that we know a person has made it through the proper steps to purchase and possess that firearm. Yes, that will mean a gun registry, but sometimes sacrifices have to be made before things get irrational. Think this is too far? Then go ask the smokers what it feels like to be left out in the cold.
Things keep escalating. The sooner you placate, the less you will have to give up. The majority of your countrymen want this. You are the minority in this. You rationaly should have the right to own a gun. This is a country of freedom. Protect that freedom and placate with a bit of common sense gun regulations. If it doesn't work, you get to have the high ground. You can say "I told you so!" But until then, the regulations will only get more intense. Before you know it, you won't be able to stroke your gun after a good meal.
Back when I was a very passionate Christian, I went to church more than most sane people would. There was many times I would go to a church function 4-5 times a week. There was one story that the preachers would love to return to. It was given as a modern parable. Even though it wasn't in the bible, it was used by more than one preacher. I heard this story in a sermon by preachers in three states. So it must be a story that is pretty important to them. What is this great story? Well, it's been decades but I will try to remember it the best I can.
A man is sitting on his roof as the floods are coming in. The water is only 3 feet high, but using a ladder he was able to climb up to the roof to keep dry.
A man on a jet ski comes by and sees him on his roof. The man shouts up to him, "Jump on down and I can take you to dry land."
The man responds with passion, "No, you go on. My lord and savior will protect me."
So the man in the boat moves on to rescue others in need.
A few hours later the water reaches six feet high. It is almost above his door. The man keeps praying. A motor boat comes by and asks him, "Come on into my boat and let me take you to dry land."
Again the man replies, "No, you go on. I've prayed to Jesus and he won't let me down. I trust in him."
The man in the boat shakes his head and drives away.
After a few hours more the man has had to move to sitting on his chimney. A small aircraft drops a ladder down and tell him to climb up. Again he refuses. "I have prayed to God and he will save me."
The ladder goes up and the helicopter flies away to save others. After a few hours the man sadly dies.
When he arrives in heaven he confronts God. "I prayed and I prayed, but you never rescued me lord. Why not?"
God shakes his head, looks down at the man, and asks one question. "I sent you a jet ski, a boat, and a helicopter! What more did you want?"
The moral of the story is that sometimes God gives us the tools and hopes that we get up off our lazy butts and do some work.
I remember this story when I think of people who offer up thoughts and prayers. Our children are dying. God has given you the tools to stop it.
Now I'm a godless heathen now, but maybe this story will help some of my Christian friends rethink how we can stop children from being shot to death several times a month.

What makes a store progressive? We'd all like to shop in small, privately owned shops that pay
their employees well and give full benefits. But those are not only hard to find, they are often
outside our budget for day to day needs. When possible, small businesses owned by
progressives will always be my first choice. But, realistically, I also need to consider the big
chains.
So, what chains are ok? Target and Starbucks always stands up for LGBTQ people. WinCo is
employee owned. And, I recently discovered the stores owned by TJX Inc, TJ Maxx, JCPenney
(also LGBTQ friendly), Home Goods and Marshall’s, have been paying their Puerto Rican
employees while the stores have been closed. Starbucks and Nordstroms did as well.
Starbucks has been able to put all their employees back to work in the stores that are open, so
don't need to anymore. Nordstroms did for a while then offered employees a severance.
Obviously Nordstroms isn't one of the big chain stores I would choose to save money, but didn't feel it was fair to not mention them when listing stores that stepped up in Puerto Rico by taking care of their employees.
If I have to shop in big chain stores to save money, I will look to these places first. We should
reward good behavior in the corporations that are our neighbors as much as we boycott the
Hobby Lobbys, Papa Johns and Carl Jr's of the corporate world.

Ok everyone, I think I figured it out. I now know how all this happened!
Bare with me, but you know how sequels are always worse than the original? This is especially true with classics. For every decade after the original, the sequel to a classic will be exponentially worse. Well, I think this is a sequel to One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. I know this sounds crazy, but please keep reading. I think I'm onto something.
Instead of paying the price to hire the best writers, they are just using lame FX. So they released it in interactive VR. Somehow we are all stuck in it. I'm sure you've figured it out by now that the mental patients escaped, took over the government, and the only way for us to escape is to vote them out of office.
So we have to get them back in the mental hospital, start to put the country back together, and I'm confidant that as the credits roll we will be brought back to the real world.
Think this is nuts? Call my bluff and vote out the mental patients! What have we got to lose? I think it's worth a try. Remember, the most important protest is to vote. Let's start with that local ballot you haven't filled out yet.
Share this post if you think I'm onto something here. Thanks.
So I feel I need to start this off by saying that it seems pretty clear that Harvey Weinstein is a disgusting wretch of a human being. It should also be very clear that he deserves some serious repercussions for his reprehensible treatment of women.
His career should be over. He deserves to be kicked out of his own company. He deserves to have his movies boycotted from here on out. I will even go so far as to say that we should make an example of him so that people think twice before behaving like he is accused of behaving. Even if you think about doing something like this, have a deep desire to do something like that, and possibly have the power to get away with doing things like he has, the fear of what may happen to you keeps you in check. Make scumbags fear being scumbags!
Let’s be reasonable about this. Let’s make sure we stick with reality. Let’s ask if the punishment fits the crime. Let’s ask if we are allowing others to get away with the same thing, while making him the scapegoat for every person like him.
How many of you still go see X-Men movies despite the deluge of stories about Bryan Singer molesting little boys? How many of you still watch movies from the Jeepers Creepers series even though the writer of every single one of them is a childmolester? Victor Salva was convicted in 1988 of sexually molesting a 12-year-old! Woody Allen is a highly respected filmmaker with his reputation intact, despite so many extremely creepy accounts of his behavior with children. The story reeks of typical Hollywood elite getting away with this kind of behavior. Fatty Arbuckle raped and killed a woman! Errol Flynn got away with having sex with two 17 year olds (Betty Hansen and Peggy Satterlee)! His reputation is still pretty good among women today. Roman Polanski anyone? It’s an endless list.
So how can we scapegoat one person while letting so many get away with the same repulsive behavior? Sure, let’s make an example of him! But let’s not stop with just him. Let’s treat all of the vermin the same.

The following was created by someone named Jeremy Oakes. We had planned on posting a response to President Trumps attack on our transgender friends, but what Jeremy wrote is more brilliant than anything we could have come up with. We offer a humble bow to you. May your greatness be celebrated tonight. If you lived nearby, your drinks would be on us tonight. Thank you.
PLEASE SHARE THIS.
NO, SERIOUSLY. WE BEG YOU TO SHARE THIS, COPY AND PASTE THIS, JUST GET THIS EVERYWHERE!
Everything hurts today, so I thought I’d make an argument cheat sheet for the all the nonsense.
1. Trump supporter: “The military is no place for a social experiment! MAGA”
You: There are already transgender soldiers in the military. A conservative estimate is that there are 2,450 transgender soldiers actively serving and 1,510 in the reserves. They are already fighting and dying for you. (RAND)
2. Trump supporter: “We shouldn’t have to pay for their weird surgery! MAGA!!!”
You: You are right to be concerned about military surplus- but that surplus doesn’t have anything to do with these soldiers. Admitting transgender soldiers may increase costs between $2.4 and $8.4 million, but that is a tiny fraction of the overall budget. It will likely have little impact on the $6 billion we already spend for soldiers’ health. It’s, at most, 0.134%. (RAND)
3. Trump supporter: “You looney! Millions of dollars is millions of dollars!!! MAAAAAGA!!!!!”
You: Ok- let me put it this way. We spent $84.24 million dollars on erectile dysfunction drugs in 2014. Caring for these soldiers only costs a small fraction of that. (Military Times).
4. Trump supporter: “I don’t want anyone who’s mentally ill in the military! MAGAGMA!!”
You: Well, lucky for all of us, being transgender is not a mental illness. The American Psychological Association says, “A psychological state is considered a mental disorder only if it causes significant distress or disability. Many transgender people do not experience their gender as distressing or disabling, which implies that identifying as transgender does not constitute a mental disorder.”
Many people who are transgender do, in fact, suffer with depression or anxiety- but not because they are trans. They suffer because of lack of social support and bigotry they experience.
5. Trump: “Look- a hot dog is a hot dog and a taco is a taco—if you can’t tell the difference, you’re crazy. GMAMAG”
You: It’s more complicated than that. Your gender is not based on sexual characteristics alone. In fact, recent research suggests the brain structures of trans individuals have distinct similarities to their preferred gender than their natal gender. It’s frankly biology. And, if we want trans individuals to AVOID mental illness, the best treatment can be to let them transition in peace and without harassment. (Scientific American).
6. Trump supporter: “Have you ever heard of a trans hero?! They must not be doing anything even if they are there! MMMMM!”
You: Yep. Kristin Beck. She has a purple heart and was a part of Seal Team 6. She’s a badass.
7. Trump supporter: “Can you imagine how uncomfortable the other soldiers must be?! MAMA”
You: They’re soldiers. They’re fine. Good leadership makes a team cohesive- and other countries have already had success with having soldiers who are transgendered. (RAND).
8. Trump supporter: “I still don’t like it. MAGAZINE”
You: Well, we’ve established that these soldiers are already hard a work, cost very little to accommodate, are of sound mind and body, and have already been heroes. I’m not sure what you have left to be upset about.
9. Tum supporter: “VOMITS DISCRIMINATION.”
You: K…. bye.
With almost a quarter of a century of experience in human services, time spent with early childhood education, as well as being a leader for social services programs, Deborah Lee is the clear choice for Olympia city council. We know she isn't the only progressive candidate in this race, but she is the one who has talked with this website the most. We know her and because of that we are confidant that she would be amazing in this position. So we endorse Deborah Lee for Olympia Washington city council position 5.
No matter who you vote for, don't forget to vote!

Yes Kathy Griffin was wrong. Many other liberals have come out and said so. A few came out and celebrated her photo holding a fake bloody head of Donald Trump. So this is for them.
Do you remember when Ted Nugent talked about President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and I believe at some point Senator Elizabeth Warren? Remember how the secret service had a little chat with him about that and he chilled out?
Yes we live in a country where our government is not allowed to silence our speech. But as with all rights, there are limits. You can’t yell fire in a crowded theater. You also can’t encourage violence against another person, especially our president! This is a good limitation, because when the tables are turned it protects us.
I also want to point out that Kathy Griffin was fired from CNN. That was the right thing to do. It was also the right thing for her to apologize. What repercussions did Ted Nugent get? Label didn’t drop him, venues didn’t cancel shows, and sponsors were never contacted. This is how it goes. We will always be held to a higher standard. We need to be better than those doing evil. It’s the curse of the hero. Be better than the villain.
Is he a horrible president? Yes! Do we want him gone? Absolutely! Is violence the answer? NEVER!
That being said, I have no problem with him eating lots of greasy burgers, extra bacon, and not getting any real exercise.
More importantly, I wish my fellow liberals would focus on 2018. It’s coming up fast and our progressive candidates need teams to support them.
In a way, Donald Trump truly IS making America great.
Since his election we've had:
1. Unprecedented levels of ongoing civic engagement.
2. Millions of Americans now know who their state and federal representatives are without having to google.
3. Millions of Americans are exercising more. They're holding signs and marching every week.
4. Alec Baldwin is great again. Everyone's forgotten he's kind of a jerk.
5. The Postal Service is enjoying the influx cash due to stamps purchased by millions of people for letter and postcard campaigns.
6. Likewise, the pharmaceutical industry is enjoying record growth in sales of anti-depressants.
7. Millions of Americans now know how to call their elected officials and know exactly what to say to be effective.
8. Footage of town hall meetings is now entertaining.
9. Tens of millions of people are now correctly spelling words like emoluments, narcissist, fascist, misogynist, holocaust and cognitive dissonance.
10. Everyone knows more about the rise of Hitler than they did last year.
11. Everyone knows more about legislation, branches of power and how checks and balances work.
12. Marginalized groups are experiencing a surge in white allies.
13. White people in record numbers have just learned that racism is not dead. (See #6)
14. White people in record numbers also finally understand that Obamacare IS the Affordable Care Act.
15. Stephen Colbert's "Late Night" finally gained the elusive #1 spot in late night talk shows, and Seth Meyers is finding his footing as today's Jon Stewart.
16. "Mike Pence" has donated millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood since Nov. 9th.
17. Melissa FREAKING McCarthy.
18. Travel ban protesters put $24 million into ACLU coffers in just 48 hours, enabling them to hire 200 more attorneys. Lawyers are now heroes.
19. As people seek veracity in their news sources, respected news outlets are happily reporting a substantial increase in subscriptions, a boon to a struggling industry vital to our democracy.
20. Live streaming court cases and congressional sessions are now as popular as the Kardashians.
21. Massive cleanup of facebook friend lists.
22. People are reading classic literature again. Sales of George Orwell's "1984" increased by 10,000% after the inauguration. (Yes, that is true. 10,000%. 9th grade Lit teachers all over the country are now rock stars.)
23. More than ever before, Americans are aware that education is important. Like, super important.
24. Now, more than any time in history, everyone believes that anyone can be President. Seriously, anyone.
